12 large mushrooms (12?? I always fix at least 2 dozen..LOL)
2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
1 Tablespoon FINELY minced onions (more if you like onions, less if you
do not)
1 to 2 Tablespoons flour
1/2 cup of condensed milk (you can use regular milk, but be prepared to
add more flour if needed)
3 to 6 crumbled slices of cooked bacon (you can substitute most any meat
here, ie: sausage, ham, shrimp or crab. Because you can use so much cheese
on these, I usually stick to bacon.)
grated cheese (I use a combination of mozarella and parmesan)
Wash mushrooms and remove stems. Chop stems, onion and meat and saute in
butter or margarine until soft (soft? LOL til the onions are slightly golden)
Add the flour and milk. Simmer until thick. Fill mushroom caps with stuffing
and sprinkle cheese. (SPRINKLE?!!?! I dump it on...<G>) Place in a
greased (buttered) baking dish and bake at 400 until cheese is melted to
your satisfaction. I like mine slightly browned around the edges. Takes
about 20 minutes. Experiment with the cheeses and meats <G> and HAVE
FUN!!
